Located in Zavidovo, Russia, this English Arts and Crafts style clubhouse is the centerpiece of the Zavidovo Golf and Lake Resort -- a massive residential community comprised of over 5,000 homes, hotels and a commercial town center. Tom Hoch was engaged by St. Andrews-based Braemar Golf to provide space planning services.
Tom Hoch worked remotely from Oklahoma City to meet demands on schedule and within budget. Space planning for this Russian location was a challenging endeavor that required close examination and understanding of the clubhouse culture prevalent within the region.
The custom space plan features a two-story volume entry and concierge reception services, boutique golf shop, wine cellar dining room and luxurious locker rooms. Other highlights of the plan include three bars – a "spike bar" for the golfers, a luxurious vodka and whisky bar as well as a relaxed Mezzanine Lounge Bar for the members and residents of the clubhouse suites – as well as a chef-driven restaurant and dining area overlooking the spectacular 18th hole and romantic River Volga influx. The third level will feature 11 opulent guestrooms including a Presidential Suite, social areas for adult gaming and billiards, as well as a lounge and private dining area.
With a nod to the English craftsmanship of the late 19th century and such renowned architects and interior designers as Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens and William Morris, the space plan calls for a classic English Arts and Crafts architectural motif for the clubhouse's exterior and interior anchor pieces.
